SUMMARY:Second Home: Addressing the Needs of Homeless High School Students in Lincoln County
DESCRIPTION:David Fleming\nSecond Home is a community response to the difficult problem of addressing the needs of homeless\, unaccompanied\, high school students in Lincoln County. By providing safe and stable housing and ongoing support\, students can focus on completing their secondary education and discover and realize their gifts and potential. Second Home finds volunteers in the community who have the capacity to host a young person in their home while the student works toward their educational goals. The program works with the Lincoln County School District and various community partners to connect students to hosts who would be willing to offer them room and board and a positive presence in their lives. With the security of a safe and stable place to live\, these students can graduate with a high school diploma and a valid rental history and become eligible for free college tuition. Please feel free to join Jeffrey Fleming\, the Home Provider Coordinator of Second Home\, as he sheds light on the plight of homeless youth in Lincoln County as well as the solutions programs like Second Home can offer and how you can help!

SUMMARY:Encore for Steve Hartman’s Kindness 101 series
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Ric Neese\nSteve Hartman : Kindness 101 series began as a virtual class on March 23\, 2020 as a web series designed for students during the COVID-19 pandemic school closures. \nInitially a 14-episode series on YouTube\, Kindness 101 spanned four years featuring stories from Hartman’s CBS “On the Road” segments. \nIn 2024\, Drake University (Des Moines\, Iowa) partnered to expand the series into an educational curriculum (K-12) used in tens of thousands of schools. \nAs of early 2026\, the series continues to air new segments\, with recent episodes exploring themes like mindfulness and the ripple effect of doing good. \nToday’s presentation will revisit the origins of Hartman’s “On the Road” adventures and highlight several stories from Kindness 101 with Steve Harman: Service and Kindness 101 Explores Mindfulness.
